Inclusion & Special Education Needs – Flagship School

Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do at Barnton Community Nursery and Primary School. We get to know every child in our care and we work hard to ensure they feel valued, understood, and fully supported. We are proud to be a recognised Flagship Centre of Excellence for Inclusion, and we remain committed to ensuring that every child can reach their potential and participate fully in the rich learning experiences we offer, regardless of any special educational need or disability.
We are a true School of Opportunity, where every child is encouraged to discover their unique gifts and talents.
We are proud to have three Resource Provisions within our school community:
  • Two provisions for pupils with communication and interaction needs, offering tailored support in a nurturing environment.
  • One provision for pupils with complex to moderate learning needs, ensuring personalised, high‑quality provision that enables children to thrive.
Across all areas of school life, we pride ourselves on going above and beyond to meet each child’s individual needs. If your child has additional SEND needs, we will work closely with you to plan the right support and liaise with specialist services to ensure the highest possible standard of provision.
If you would like to discuss your child’s needs or have any questions, our Inclusion Team is always happy to help:
